You don't have to install iTunes on your computer if you only use FonePaw iOS Transfer to transfer data from iPhone to computer or other iOS devices. However, if you would like to transfer data between iOS device and iTunes, you need to install the latest version of iTunes.
FonePaw iOS Transfer and iTunes/other transfer programs can’t be run at the same time. So when the message of "The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file" pops up, please close FonePaw iOS Transfer or iTunes/other transfer programs to avoid accidental synchronization of your iOS devices. If the message still appears, please restart your computer.
To avoid iTunes erasing the data on your device automatically, you can follow the steps below to set it properly:
- Open iTunes, and click "Preferences" > "Devices".
- Check Prevent iPods, iPhones, iPads from syncing automatically and click "OK" to save the settings.
Note: If you wonder whether you can still transfer data to iTunes, when you have moved iTunes library from the default drive to other hard drive, actually you can do it but you need to use FonePaw iOS Transfer to transfer data to computer first, launch iTunes, then drag and drop those data to iTunes.
