To edit and make a video, you need to create a project in which videos, audio, images can be edited and merged into a video. There are two ways to start a new project.
1. Create a new project when starting PawEditor
Double-click the PawEditor icon on the desktop and a Project Window will pop up. You should click "+ New Project" as is shown in the screenshot below.
A "New Project" window will appear, from which you can name the project, select the path to save the project by clicking the "Browse" button.
Please note that you should not move the folders that save the project file and the editing media files, otherwise, the working project may be messed up. In fact, it is good idea to always saving your media files and projects to one specific location.
Normally, you can leave the resolution in the default setting and click "Create" button to finish creating a project.
After a project is created, you will enter into the main window of PawEditor where you can edit and create a video.
2. Create a new project in a running project
During a project, you can also create another new project: click "Manage Projects" icon on the left top of the main window and select "+ New Project" on the pop-up Project Window.
On the "New Project" window, you can edit the name of the new project and click "Browse" to set the location of the project.
According to your need, set the resolution and click "Create" on the window, which is the same to method 1.
Tip 1: Configure project size
The resolution of a project is the size of the video that you are going to make.
- Custom: Set the size at your will.
- 720p and 1080p: the size commonly used on PCs.
- Mobile: the size commonly used on mobile phones.
- Square: videos of 1:1 aspect ratio.
- VR: the size used to make VR videos.
- General: the size used for any screen in general.
Tip 2: Reset project settings
When working on a project, you can reset the project configuration if you want.
In a project, navigate to the preview window, click "More Preview Settings". On the Project Settings window, you can resize the project by adjusting resolution. Click OK to save the change.
